The Smithsonian’s National Zoo hosted its annual Conservation Gala to record-breaking results, raising $4.2 million for global wildlife programs. The black-tie event drew 600 supporters including policymakers, conservationists, and celebrity wildlife advocates.
“This evening proves that the public’s commitment to wildlife has never been stronger,” said National Zoo Director Dr. Brandie Smith. “These funds will directly support field conservation work on six continents.”
Highlights included an intimate dinner beside the giant panda exhibit and a live auction of expedition experiences.
