Seahorse Conservation Lab

The Seahorse Conservation Lab showcases several seahorse species in beautiful aquarium displays while highlighting Mote's research into seahorse biology and captive breeding. Seahorses are among the most unusual fish in the ocean, with males carrying and giving birth to live young.

Seahorse populations are threatened worldwide by habitat destruction, bycatch in shrimp trawls, and the traditional medicine trade. Mote's breeding research supports conservation of these vulnerable species.
