Manatee Exhibit

Mote's Manatee exhibit provides a home for manatees that cannot be released back into the wild due to injuries or other conditions. The large freshwater habitat allows guests to observe these gentle giants up close while learning about the threats facing Florida's most iconic marine mammal.

Florida manatees face ongoing threats from boat strikes, habitat loss, and starvation due to seagrass die-offs. Mote's research contributes to manatee population monitoring and habitat protection policy.
