African Savanna

The African Savanna exhibit features hippos, ostriches, and antelope species in a mixed habitat that recreates the open grasslands of East Africa. Guests can observe these species from shaded viewing areas along the walking path.

Hippopotamuses are the third-largest land mammals and spend most of their day submerged in rivers and lakes to stay cool. They are classified as vulnerable due to habitat loss and hunting across sub-Saharan Africa.
