Living Coast

The Living Coast explores the diverse ecosystems found along the western coasts of the Americas, from the cold shores of Chile to the tropical beaches of the Galapagos. The exhibit features Humboldt penguins, shorebirds, and a variety of marine invertebrates in recreated coastal environments.

Coastal ecosystems are among the most productive on Earth, supporting millions of seabirds, marine mammals, and fish species. Rising sea levels and coastal development threaten these vital habitats worldwide.
