Mystic Aquarium is one of the nation’s leading aquariums, located in Mystic, Connecticut, and affiliated with the University of Connecticut as a research partner. The facility is home to New England’s only beluga whales, as well as African penguins, Steller sea lions, harbor seals, and thousands of aquatic species.

Founded in 1973, Mystic Aquarium has grown into a major center for marine research, education, and conservation. The Arctic Coast exhibit provides immersive viewing of beluga whales in a 750,000-gallon habitat, while the outdoor seal and sea lion exhibits showcase North Pacific pinnipeds.

Mystic Aquarium holds both AZA and AMMPA accreditation and conducts cutting-edge research in partnership with UConn’s Department of Marine Sciences.
