Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium is a 77-acre facility in Highland Park, Pittsburgh, home to over 4,000 animals representing 475 species. One of only six major zoo-aquarium combinations in the United States, the facility features the PPG Aquarium — a state-of-the-art marine complex with sharks, sea otters, and a two-story coral reef tank.
Founded in 1898, Pittsburgh Zoo has a long history of conservation leadership. The International Conservation Center in nearby Somerset County is a 724-acre facility dedicated to breeding endangered species. The zoo’s diverse collection spans five themed regions representing major biomes.
Pittsburgh Zoo holds both AZA and AMMPA accreditation and operates one of the most comprehensive conservation breeding programs in the country.
