Coastal Predators

Coastal Predators features loggerhead sea turtles, sharks, and moray eels in a series of exhibits highlighting the apex predators of the Gulf Coast. The sea turtle exhibit provides a home for non-releasable animals recovering from boat strikes and entanglement injuries.

Loggerhead sea turtles are classified as Vulnerable worldwide, with Texas beaches serving as important nesting sites. Texas State Aquarium's sea turtle rescue program has rehabilitated thousands of turtles, with the majority successfully returned to the Gulf.
