Louisiana Swamp

The Louisiana Swamp exhibit recreates the bayous and wetlands of the Gulf Coast with live alligators, turtles, and native fish species in a misty, cypress-draped environment. Spanish moss, realistic swamp sounds, and atmospheric lighting create an immersive bayou experience.

Louisiana's coastal wetlands are disappearing at a rate of approximately one football field per hour due to erosion, sea level rise, and oil and gas extraction. The exhibit highlights the ecological importance of these wetlands as nursery habitat and storm buffers.
