Educational Information
Stingray Reef is an interactive touch pool where visitors can feed and gently touch cownose rays and southern stingrays in a shallow saltwater environment. Staff members guide the experience and teach guests about ray biology, sensory adaptations, and ocean ecosystems.
Stingrays are related to sharks, sharing a skeleton made of flexible cartilage. Their flat, wing-like bodies and whip-like tails are elegant adaptations for life on the ocean floor. Kemah Aquarium uses this popular exhibit to create personal connections between visitors and marine animals.
