Natural Encounters

Natural Encounters is a 20,000-square-foot interpretive center featuring over 200 amphibians, reptiles, and invertebrates from around the world. The facility highlights animals that are critically important to healthy ecosystems but are often overlooked by the public.

Houston Zoo's conservation programs for reptiles and amphibians include on-the-ground work in Central America and Southeast Asia, focusing on species threatened by disease and the illegal wildlife trade.
