North American Trail

The North American Trail showcases native wildlife including black bears, bald eagles, bison, and white-tailed deer in habitats that replicate the forests, prairies, and mountains of the continent. The exhibit helps visitors appreciate the wildlife diversity in their own backyard.

American black bears are one of conservation's success stories, with populations recovered across much of the eastern United States after centuries of decline. The exhibit educates visitors about coexisting safely with wildlife and the importance of habitat corridors that allow animals to move between protected areas.
