Bayou Country

Bayou Country showcases the native wildlife of Louisiana's Acadiana region, featuring American alligators, native turtles, and waterfowl in habitats that replicate the bayous, marshes, and cypress swamps of southwest Louisiana. The exhibit celebrates the rich natural heritage of Cajun Country.

Louisiana's wetlands support one of the most productive ecosystems in North America, providing habitat for wildlife, buffering against hurricanes, and sustaining the commercial fishing industry.
