Primate Canyon

Primate Canyon features a diverse collection of primates in naturalistic habitats designed to encourage climbing, foraging, and social interaction. From great apes to smaller New World monkeys, the exhibit showcases the remarkable diversity and intelligence of our closest relatives in the animal kingdom.

Primates face severe conservation threats worldwide, with over 60% of species at risk of extinction. Habitat destruction, bushmeat hunting, and the illegal pet trade are decimating wild populations across Africa, Asia, and South America. Memphis Zoo participates in multiple primate Species Survival Plans.
