Alexandria Zoological Park

Alexandria Zoological Park is a 33-acre zoo in the heart of Alexandria, Louisiana, within the city’s scenic Bringhurst Park. The compact, community-focused institution houses over 500 animals and is one of the smallest AZA-accredited zoos in the country — a distinction that reflects the quality of its animal care and conservation programs despite its modest size.

The zoo features a Louisiana Habitat showcasing native wildlife, an African Savanna with giraffes and painted dogs, and a Barnyard Buddies petting area for young visitors. Alexandria Zoo is particularly known for its Louisiana black bear conservation programs, working with state and federal agencies to support the recovery of this threatened subspecies.

Alexandria Zoological Park holds AZA accreditation and serves as the primary wildlife education resource for central Louisiana.
