Educational Information

The Audubon Insectarium is the largest free-standing museum dedicated to insects in the United States. The facility features live exhibits with leafcutter ants, butterflies, beetles, and thousands of arthropod species, along with a Japanese butterfly garden where visitors walk among free-flying butterflies.

Insects are the most diverse group of organisms on Earth, making up roughly 80% of all known animal species. They perform essential ecosystem services including pollination, decomposition, and pest control. The Insectarium raises awareness about the global insect decline crisis and the importance of protecting these vital but often overlooked animals.
