Educational Information
The African Savanna features African elephants, giraffes, zebras, and a variety of antelope species in expansive habitats that evoke the grasslands of East Africa. The elephant habitat is one of the largest in the region, with multiple outdoor yards, a swimming pool, and enrichment features.
Audubon Zoo's elephant program has a long history, and the zoo participates in the AZA African Elephant Species Survival Plan. The exhibit educates visitors about the ivory trade crisis, habitat loss, and the field conservation programs working to protect elephants across Africa.
