The Junior Zoo is Birmingham's interactive children's area where young visitors can feed goats, observe Aldabra giant tortoises, and explore a nature-themed playground. The exhibit features domestic and small exotic animals alongside educational programming about animal care and wildlife stewardship.
Aldabra giant tortoises are among the longest-lived animals on Earth, with individuals commonly exceeding 100 years of age. Native to the Aldabra Atoll in the Seychelles, they are one of only two giant tortoise species remaining on the planet, the other being the famous Galápagos tortoise.
