BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo is a 140-acre facility operated by the Recreation and Park Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge. Home to over 800 animals, the zoo is Louisiana’s state capital zoo and one of the most popular family attractions in the region.

The zoo is known for the Realm of the Tiger — an award-winning Sumatran tiger exhibit — and Flamingo Cove, a walk-through flamingo habitat. The KidZoo interactive area and Safari Playground provide hands-on experiences for young visitors. A recent aquarium addition showcases Louisiana’s freshwater ecosystems.

BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo holds AZA accreditation and supports conservation programs focused on Sumatran tigers, Louisiana black bears, and Gulf Coast wildlife.
