Educational Information
Giraffe Savanna is home to Brights Zoo's giraffe herd, including rare white (leucistic) giraffes that lack the typical brown pigmentation. A feeding platform allows visitors to hand-feed giraffes at eye level, creating intimate encounters with the world's tallest animals.
Giraffe populations have declined by approximately 40% over the past three decades, leading the IUCN to classify them as Vulnerable. Habitat loss, civil conflict, and poaching threaten giraffes across sub-Saharan Africa. The zoo's white giraffes are among the rarest animals in captivity and help draw attention to giraffe conservation.
