Brookgreen Gardens

Brookgreen Gardens is a 9,127-acre sculpture garden and wildlife preserve in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, located on the site of four former rice plantations along the Waccamaw River. The property uniquely combines one of the largest collections of American figurative sculpture with a Lowcountry Zoo showcasing native wildlife and a nature preserve protecting diverse coastal ecosystems.

The Lowcountry Zoo features animals native to the southeastern United States, including red foxes, bald eagles, white-tailed deer, river otters, and wading birds in naturalistic habitats set among ancient live oaks draped in Spanish moss. The zoo focuses exclusively on native species, connecting visitors to the wildlife of the South Carolina Lowcountry.

Brookgreen Gardens holds AZA accreditation and is a National Historic Landmark, recognized for its extraordinary integration of art, nature, and cultural history.
