Educational Information
Central Florida Zoo is home to Komodo dragons, the world's largest living lizards. These impressive reptiles can grow up to 10 feet in length and weigh over 150 pounds, using a combination of venom and powerful claws to subdue prey far larger than themselves.
Komodo dragons are found only on a handful of Indonesian islands and face threats from habitat loss, poaching, and the impacts of climate change on prey populations. Fewer than 1,400 individuals remain in the wild.
