Educational Information
The Raptor Exhibit houses non-releasable birds of prey in spacious outdoor enclosures designed to accommodate their natural flight and perching behaviors. Barn owls, red-tailed hawks, and great horned owls serve as educational ambassadors, helping visitors understand the vital role raptors play in controlling rodent populations and maintaining ecological balance.
Birds of prey face threats from habitat loss, pesticide exposure, vehicle collisions, and window strikes. Crabtree Nature Center's raptor program rehabilitates injured raptors and provides a permanent home for those that cannot return to the wild.
