Educational Information

Giants of the Savanna is a landmark 11-acre exhibit recreating the African savanna ecosystem where elephants, giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, and impalas coexist in a shared landscape. Guests can observe natural inter-species interactions rarely seen in zoological settings.

African elephants are classified as vulnerable due to ivory poaching and habitat loss. Dallas Zoo participates in the AZA Elephant Species Survival Plan and funds anti-poaching programs in East Africa.
