Educational Information

The Shark Dive exhibit houses nurse sharks, sand tiger sharks, and stingrays in a 120,000-gallon tank with a walk-through acrylic tunnel. Adventurous visitors can participate in an in-tank scuba diving experience alongside these misunderstood predators.

Sharks have been patrolling Earth's oceans for over 400 million years — long before the dinosaurs. Despite their ancient lineage, shark populations are declining rapidly due to overfishing and bycatch. Long Island Aquarium uses this exhibit to combat negative perceptions about sharks.
