Gulf Islands showcases the unique biodiversity of the barrier islands off Mississippi's coast, featuring Gulf sturgeon, sea birds, and marine invertebrates. The exhibit includes a touch pool where visitors can interact with horseshoe crabs and marine invertebrates native to the Gulf.

Gulf sturgeon are a threatened species that has been swimming in the Gulf of Mexico for millions of years. These ancient fish can grow up to eight feet long and are protected under the Endangered Species Act.
