Arctic Coast

Arctic Coast is Mystic Aquarium's signature exhibit, housing New England's only beluga whales in a 750,000-gallon habitat with expansive underwater viewing. The exhibit recreates the Arctic coastal environment with naturalistic rockwork, tidal pools, and climate-appropriate lighting cycles.

Beluga whales are among the most social and vocal cetaceans, communicating with a complex repertoire of clicks, whistles, and chirps. Wild beluga populations face threats from climate change, pollution, and shipping traffic in Arctic waters. Mystic Aquarium's beluga research contributes to conservation efforts for these charismatic whales.
