Educational Information
The African Savanna Exhibit features bongo, zebras, ostriches, and other African species in an expansive open habitat that recreates the grasslands and woodlands of East Africa. A giraffe feeding station allows visitors to come face-to-face with the world's tallest animals.
The eastern bongo is critically endangered with fewer than 100 remaining in the wild in Kenya's mountain forests. Nashville Zoo supports bongo conservation through captive breeding programs and field conservation efforts in the Aberdare Mountains of Kenya.
