Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo is the only AZA-accredited zoo located on a college campus, training the next generation of zookeepers since 1974. Located in Gainesville, this small but dedicated facility houses around 200 animals cared for by students enrolled in the Zoo Animal Technology program.

Students serve as zookeepers, veterinary technicians, and tour guides, gaining hands-on experience that prepares them for careers at top zoological institutions nationwide. Graduates of the program are employed at zoos across the country, making it one of the most respected zoo training programs in the United States.

The Teaching Zoo is AZA accredited through March 2027 and is open to the public on weekends, offering student-led tours that provide a uniquely personal and educational zoo experience.
