The Primate Section houses cotton-top tamarins and other small primates in enrichment-focused exhibits designed and maintained by students. Cotton-top tamarins are critically endangered, with fewer than 6,000 remaining in the wild in Colombia.

The Teaching Zoo participates in the AZA Species Survival Plan for cotton-top tamarins, contributing to the genetic management of this tiny, charismatic primate species.
