Educational Information
ZooWorld's Aardwolf Exhibit made history in 2025 with the first successful captive birth of aardwolves in the United States. These small, insect-eating relatives of hyenas are rarely seen in zoos and are notoriously difficult to breed in human care.
Aardwolves are the only hyena species that feeds almost exclusively on termites, consuming up to 250,000 insects per night. This landmark breeding achievement advances our understanding of aardwolf husbandry and reproduction.
